September 2006 Newsletter

Dear Lexington Toastmasters,

With much excitement I introduce you to our very first newsletter! We are a growing club and want to keep communications as open as possible. We want to make sure that some of you "part-timers" feel included, know what's happening and will be enticed enough to return soon!

First, some interesting club stats:
  • current membership is at 56
  • we have 4 speak-outs planned, 2 in the fall and 2 in the spring
  • given the weekly meetings and other speaking opportunities we will be scheduling around 150 speeches this year
  • 5 Lexington Toastmsters officers attended fall training
  • we plan at least 2 social events and some informal meeting celebrations to get to know each other better

On the membership side, we have had the pleasure of several "Ice Breaker" speeches in the last few weeks, including by Joel Bernstein, Galina Pekurovskaya, Gail Ferreira and David Du.

Our very own David Carnes, past president, has been elected area Lt. Governor for our district. He will be in charge of 4-5 clubs, including ours! We are indeed lucky to have such talent available.

Talking about socials, Kumiko Suzuki is planning our next fall party! If you have not yet responded, please reply to her lovely Evite and let her know what you would like to bring. The event is planned for Saturday, 14 October at 7pm and is somewhat of a potluck. We encourage you to bring your spouse, partner and friend!

Enjoy the warmer weather!

Rudi Scheiber-Kurtz, President, Lexington Toastmasters Club
